Why a Blue Thread Life?

Why a Blue Thread Life?

In Hebrew culture, the tzitzit (צִיצִית, TZEET-tzeet) are woolen tassels tied to the four corners of a Jewish prayer shawl (a tallit). This tradition goes back to when 12 spies went to Canaan and 10 came back filled with fear. Only Joshua and Caleb came back reminding the people of Israel of God's promises and his presence. That is when God told Moses to issue a command to wear blue threads tied to the corners of their robes as a physical reminder to keep the faith. (See Numbers 13:1–15:41.)

As for the reason behind the blue, opinions differ. Some Jewish scholars say the blue color served to remind God's people of the color of the sky, the ocean, and God's throne—the connection between faith and the world around them. Others say it's a reminder that it was a hallmark of nobility, that we are members of God's kingdom of priests. But these days, most devout Jews wear white tassels, saying that it is only when the Messiah comes that they will once again wear blue tassels.

At Blue Thread Life® we believe Jesus is indeed the Messiah, and the blue thread (still) reminds us of God's promises and God's presence. As such we, like Joshua and Caleb, approach life with hope, not fear.

The Blue Thread also reminds us of the connection between our faith and the world around us with our faith being central to all of life.

We also believe that, in Christ and with the Holy Spirit living in us, we are all members of the royal priesthood, thus we can confidently live a Blue Thread Life with God.

And life with God? Well, it's an epic adventure.

Welcome to the Blue Thread Life!
